John Yancy, a distinguished golf professional with over three decades of experience in the industry, currently serves as the Head Golf Professional at Heritage Hunt Golf & Country Club in Gainesville, VA. John’s career is marked by significant achievements both on and off the course, demonstrating his expertise and dedication to the sport.
John's journey began as a standout player on the Virginia Tech Golf Team, where he was a Letterman for four years, the #1 player for three years, and served as Team Captain for two years. During his collegiate career, he earned All Metro Conference honors twice and was a Tournament Medalist three times. His competitive spirit continued as he participated in top national amateur tournaments, including the 1979 U.S. Amateur.
John holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where he attended on a full golf scholarship. He furthered his education and expertise through PGA Business Schools 1 and 2 and achieved PGA Certified Professional Status with a specialization in Instruction in 2007. Notably, he was the top interview candidate in the Eastern NC PGA Oral Examination in 1989.
